ImmiGreatness partners with East Kentwood High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, focusing on empowering 10th to 12th graders who are immigrants or children of immigrants. Through monthly workshops covering topics like resume building and financial literacy, we provide essential resources for success. Each student is paired with a dedicated consultant from our team, serving as a mentor to offer personalized support and guidance. Our commitment is to equip students with valuable resources for a successful transition into adulthood.

An ImmiGreatness x East Kentwood High School Partnership

FalconGreatness

  • Our main focus is ensuring the next generation is equipped for success by providing them with resources they may otherwise lack or be unaware of.

Being that our E-Board are East Kentwood High School alumni, it only felt right we started our efforts there. Not only is East Kentwood High School one of the most diverse schools in the nation, 70% of their enrollment consists of minorities. Attending East Kentwood first-hand, we knew that our mission aligned with the many resources they have to offer our members. In collaboration with the administrative staff, ELA programs, and counselors, we work together to connect with students from non-American backgrounds who benefit from educational, career, and personal guidance.

The FalconGreatness program launched in the 2022-2023 school year, where over thirty senior-grade students enrolled and qualified for $27,000 in scholarships through our organization’s help. In addition, we provided tutoring, career-readiness resources, and consistent 1-1 mentorship with our Consultants. This was made possible by recurring monthly meetings, communication, and events with the support of local organizations that we partner with to equip students for life after high school graduation.

How It All Started

Where It’s Headed

The FalconGreatness program is headed into its second year of operations for the 2023-2024 school year. As we have grown our local exposure, gained new Consultants, and improved operational standards from year 1, we are aiming for bigger and better this year.

We will be opening registration to the program to first-generation students in 10th-12th grade, as opposed to seniors exclusively. We will be hosting monthly workshops, which will allow members to take steps in the right direction towards their education and future careers, bringing them more connections, opportunities, and resources.

We are extremely excited and grateful to have this partnership with East Kentwood High School, and go back to our old stomping grounds as determined leaders.
